Lyme is a bacterial disease that is caused by the bite of ticks which are infected. It is most common in dogs and affect humans how live in areas where animals are or they like spending time with the animals.

The signs and symptoms of Lyme in its early stages are rashes and flu. If a person has been infected he or she gets red rashes this is the first sign that occurs and as days go by the rash starts forming in a way that it looks like a bull eye, though the rash is painless. The infected person also gets flu like symptoms like headaches, body aches and fatigue.

The later symptoms of this disease are joint pains, heart aches, swollen glands, brain damages and many other problems. It can also affect the nerve system and cause kidney failure. This later symptoms only occur if the infected person does not seek immediate medical attention.

When doctors or health provides suspect that a patient is suffering from Lyme the do not carry out a blood test. This is because antibodies of the patient might be resisting the disease and therefore gives false results. What the doctors look for at first is the red rash as it is a must for a person suffering this illness to have it.

Treatment of this illness is simply by using antibiotics. Additional medicines may be given to relief pain in the joints and other areas that may be painful. This disease can also be treated naturally without using drugs. The option is of the patient.

People should not be worried about getting the disease from an infected person as it is not contagious. The age group that is likely to be affected is children between the ages of five to fourteen and adults between ages forty to forty nine but this affect people who live in areas that are infested with the ticks.

It is not a must for one to live in an area infested with ticks to get Lyme. A person might get it through rodents or standing unknowingly where the ticks are. To ensure that one does not get the illness it recommended for them to get vaccinated along with their animals and if a person suspects to have the disease they should seek immediate medical attention instead of waiting for it to reach severe stages. Good health is just as important as seeing a new day that is why we need to stay healthy.
